Disneyland!

My mom paid for us to go to Disneyland as an early Christmas present. We had so much fun. We went on a Monday, and it wasn't very crowded at all by Disneyland standards. The longest wait we had for anything was probably about 15 minutes. I thought the neatest thing was the Haunted Mansion decorated like the Nightmare Before Christmas. Ty didn't like ANY rides. Even the Winnie the Pooh ride scared him. Preston on the other hand was fearless. When he got off of Space Mountain and threw his fists in the air and yelled, "Awesome!", people waiting in line started cracking up.

People were also laughing at Ty, because he'd run around then come over and stand perfectly still and smile and wait for us to take his picture. Good thing we have digital, because we took about 30 pictures just like this.

Madison in Aladdin

Madison on stage in Aladdin!
This was the first time Madison was in a role big enough to be mic'd! She had so much fun as a narrator, and even got to sing several lines solo! She was fabulous! We were all very proud of her. She's pictured far right in the front row.

Memorial Day Weekend

Travis, Ty, and I went to Porterville on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, while the other four kids stayed with Kim's Mom and Dad. We had our annual flag raising ceremony, and pancake breakfast at the Church Monday morning. Then, I took Paige and two of her friends shopping for new clothes, then we swam and barbecued. It was a great weekend! This is a picture of Travis with Glen and his daughter Libby, Scott, and Derek with his daughter Lauren.

Summertime, Summertime, Sum Sum Summertime!

Yes! Summer is finally here! That means we're in the pool (almost) every day, and have simple dinners out on the patio table. I LOVE summer! All we need is for the kids to be out of school, and we'll be in heaven!

Ty's First Birthday!

I can't believe Ty just turned one! On one hand, it seems like he just joined our family, but on the other hand, we can't imagine our lives without him. He is a constant joy!

Ty LOVES play phones and balloons. He got 2 play phones for his birthday and plenty of helium balloons. He was one happy guy. He didn't like the cake though. He's more of a meat and potatoes kind of guy.

The Grand Canyon

We just got back from the Grand Canyon a few days ago, and it was the first time Kim or the kids had ever seen it. It was cloudy and rainy most of the time, but it cleared up enough for us to see everything, and really, the clouds made it look pretty neat, and we got to see some great rainbows in Sedona. We had a really great 4 days.

We also went to see some amazing Indian pueblo ruins in Flagstaff, where there was a natural blowhole that blew air out of the ground, as well as a really nice museum.

One of the other highlights of the trip was hiking up a volcano to see the "Bonito lava flow".

Conner and Preston's first games of the 2006 season!

Great catch...or trying to throw with his glove? We'll never tell!

Well, today was Conner's first coach pitch baseball game of this season, and Preston's first t-ball game ever. They both did great! I was impressed by Preston not "picking daisies" in the outfield. He was actually paying attention to the game and hustling for the ball. Conner hit the ball every time he was up, and never needed to use the tee (that's what they do if they miss too many times). As neither age group keeps score yet, the only way to know who won is by parents' intuition, and of course, I think they both won their games. It was FREEZING cold, so my mom stayed home with Ty during Conner's 8 am game, and Paige stayed home with him during Preston's 12:00 game, (after she played basketball at the Church at 10:00).

Snow Trip to Tehachapi March 13th

Well, we had so much fun at the snow in Tehachapi! Can you believe we had snow in March? The kids didn't get enough of it at our own house on Saturday, so we drove the 45 minutes to Tehachapi. We didn't have sleds, so we brought our boogey boards. With the slick plastic bottom, we just FLEW down that mountain! Did you know that the heavier you are, the faster you go? Well, I found out the first time I went down. We didn't get a picture of my wipeout, but we did get a picture on my way down. I was a little scared. I think Preston had the most fun of all. He hardly said a word, and never complained when he wiped out and got hurt, he just got up and climbed back up the mountain to do it again.

Trav's Pics

For those who don't know...Kim writes a food article for the Antelope Valley Press once a month, and does the food photography. Travis likes to help with the photos, especially since we got our new camera! Travis also gave Kim a set of umbrella lights for her birthday, so we have better control over lighting now, and can be even more professional. This is a picture of the Spinach Artichoke Blossoms that Kim invented. Delicious!

Paige's Birthday

Today was Paige's 14th birthday also. She's most excited about getting to go to Stake dances now. She's such a good girl. Her birthday was pretty overshadowed by the baptism, so I'll have some making up to do for her.

Conner's Baptism

Okay, this is new to me, so I'll try again. Conner was baptized today, and it was so nice to have so many friends and family come to witness this special moment. He was so excited. In addition to our family that you see in the picture (from left to right-Don, David, and Madeline Kahmann, David's girlfriend Jeanne,Travis, Jody Kahmann, Traci, Beverly, and Robert Arthur, Kim with Ty, Conner, Preston, Madison, Eric Kahmann, Paige, Rosalie and Bud Harvey, Ethan, Kyla, Margaret, and Skeeter Danforth), there were also our friends from Church, the Owen family, and the Mintey's, Cherilyn Roberts, and Karen Brinck. We were so thankful for everyone who came.

March 4th, 2006

Well, I'm a novice at this blog thing, but it seemed like it might be a fun way to keep up with family and friends, so I'm going to give it a try.
Yesterday was my birthday, and my mom threw me a tea party at a local tearoom. My mom, grandma (Mom), Rosalie (my mother-in-law), and I went. We had so much fun! Hats a little much? Maybe, but we're pretty corny! Today is Paige's 14th birthday and Conner's baptism. I'll add those pictures tomorrow!
